Seems like you made the right call. Judge Dredd, lol.

Forum sliding, could we categorize his lengthy meandering posts as such?

I think he would have had to get on the forum at large to engage in “forum sliding.”

Instead, I would characterize this prospect as being evasive and showing no interest in becoming familiar with the existing research.

He was hoping to go straight to the rocketry thread and “explain” it to us. This one ended up being an easy call.

I was actually hoping he would be decent. It was like he went out of his way to be deliberately obtuse, if not genuinely ignorant, with no interest in that changing.

All the Best,

The reddit culture, as my son explains it to me, does not discuss things in a logical manner but instead uses emotion, etc to prove points. Reddit ‘researchers’ have grown accustomed to being lazy and impertinent instead of scientific. I told my son, Hamza, that he should come over to Clues Forum and post. He told me it looks like a lot of hard work to make a point, yet he complains about Reddit posters.

Hamza came to Italy with me and met Simon and Max. He is totally on board with our type of research as it totally makes sense to him.

Hamza was telling me that there are numerous shills posting who purposely bury topics when they get too real and even mods will close threads when CF type research is discussed. The way Hamza explains it Reddit is just a honey pot.

Be sure and have him send an email to me and Simon, and I’d be happy to add him as a member. Part of the new vetting process (IMO) is to give our members some degree of assurance that diligent vetting has already taken place.

That way the new members aren’t subjected to the “third degree,” which, let’s face it, may deter otherwise valuable contributors from joining.

Far be it from me to be a “grumpy gus” as it were. But, am I the only one that is finding trouble making sense of the posts made by “Mansur”?

I can’t exactly put my finger on it- and I’ll be the first to admit not being in my favorite mood of all time this week.

So I’ll wait until it’s more clear to me.

I’d like to note here that it is well worth taking a few minutes to understand how the tactic of “triangulation,” or commonly known as “divide and conquer” actually works.

I think the attached reading from Wickedpedia does a fairly decent job of breaking it down.

I’ll return with something better when I get a moment to find it.

Also, please note that each one of us is being (or likely TO BE) contacted by Observer via PM or email.
Sometimes he copies others, using the auspice of “transparency.”

Other times it is to one person for one or more purposes.

Hoi actually ended up having to contact me today to ask WTH is up with Observer. Evidently even Hoi is being fed some bull about “censorship” by me and Simon.

So, I am trying to be mindful of how to address this before he quietly undermines us right underneath our very noses.

Sorry to have to come out and say it like this- but that’s what is going on here.

The post he made in the CHATBOX yesterday was originally copied and placed here by me yesterday.
But it was too big, and I hated having to scroll past it here.

I moved it to here.

More on that later.

Here is the .pdf.

Well, I didn’t want futuresnorway to fail. That was disappointing. But, I think it was clear enough that he was going to be as much trouble as TheWalruss.

I’m pulling for the next one - that would put us at 2/4.

But, a fail is not a “failure,” so long as the vetting is done well.

Loving the “didn’t make the cut” thread. Informative and entertaining. The decision making is transparent. Good luck troublemakers.

Thank you Kham. The feedback thus far has been quite positive. When we started this, I expected (and still do) more “potentials” would simply say what they needed to get in the door.

TheWalruss was simple. It gave terrible and prompt replies. Left us with no choice.

This one was weirder. On my first pass through the initial post I thought “well the grammar is bad, and I’m not sure what he meant by a,b, or c, but, he’s probably worth letting in.”

But, that “Globe/space deception” couldn’t be ignored. Obviously Simon and I picked up on it right away.

I thought for sure he would come back with some generalized distrust of NASA, instead of that wacky reply about the “size” of the earth. Admittedly, my first glance at that somewhat escaped my attention. Maybe the face palm didn’t help? LOL

Anyway, I do think the transparency about this process (regarding the Denied) will bring some reassurance to our members and readers that we are genuinely giving people a chance, and aren’t simply keeping out some kind of super intelligent dissenters.

It has been fun exchanging thoughts with Dani about this along the way too. I think the future is in good hands. :)

Alright- this “roses” (Prospective Member) sounds almost harmless. But, upon my second reading of that post, my “feelers” went off the charts.

I have a long tortured history with the name “Mary Alice” though, so it could be mere coincidence.

My instincts tell me otherwise.

I’m going to wait until tomorrow before replying. That should in no way prevent the rest of you of course.

Perhaps I will have more clarity after a good night sleep.

Dear SCS, what I gathered so far is this "roses" character claims to have been sent here by a thread that referenced the TYCHOS on antiquatis.org.

The http://forum.antiquatis.org/viewforum.php?f=2 does not have a member named "roses" so they must be posting under a different moniker.

The antiquatis forum does have members that are also CluesForum members:

DSKlausler - search.php?author_id=5025&sr=posts
LoneBear - search.php?author_id=4614&sr=posts
animus - search.php?st=0&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&auth ... 6&start=30

There may be more but this is what I noticed at first glance. This prospective member "roses" could be harmless as you say. Not sure yet.

In this person’s (I presume it’s a person) initial email, he (it) asked for either ODD (DOD) or roses.
I chose roses (sores).

[Note by SCS: Simon, I wasn’t sure if you wanted to leave this post in the DR. It could easily be misconstrued, given that our readers wouldn’t know about the things that have transpired since you made it. So I moved it here. Hope that’s cool with you. :) ]

Sure, Observer, I'll back you up - into a parking lot.

**********
For the record and FYI :

Observer has made a Deviantart account titled "Simon-Shack-Tychos" where he has posted his images and graphics. Try googling "Simon Shack Tychos" and see what comes up in Google's image search machine. I sent him a message a couple of days ago over at Deviantart kindly asking him to take down that account - for obvious reasons - yet the account is still up. To make matters worse, he's now "having a go" at Patrik - my closest Tychos collaborator.

You will thus understand that any further post by Observer will be immediately deleted - unless he takes down that Deviantart troll account.

Dear fellow Admins,

I meant to post this over the weekend, but I’m sure you can all see that I’ve been a tad busy as of late.

In any event, I wanted each of you to know that I spent over an hour and a half speaking on the phone with our Moderator michiganj. It was a delightful and productive conversation.

I very much needed to make sure we were on the same page before I encouraged him to please begin taking a more active role in moderating the forum (of course, only as time allows, and he wishes to do so).

I’m not going anywhere, but, I sincerely think it will serve us ALL better to have an active third Moderator. I’m going to set him as an Administrator (with some standard modifications) for now.

I have encouraged him to experiment with the moderating functions here on this otherwise invisible forum, that way he can get the hang of it without fear of messing something up.

So, if you see michiganj moving my posts around on this particular forum, and it doesn’t make sense- he’s just getting familiar with those functions.

I’ve made myself available to him if he has any questions. And I’ve assured him I would back him up with our members as they get used to another moderator- should that be necessary.

Also, I’m still actively looking for an IT person to help with some back end management issues. I will keep you posted about that.

But I learned a valuable lesson with the weird Pianoracer incident, so if I have to simply hire an IT specialist (on a private contract basis) that does not and will not have Admin permissions, that’s fine.

I’d rather be safe than sorry. And free “help” is sometimes the thing I can least afford- odd as that may sound.

Thank you all so much for your support and please let me know if any issues arise that I may assist with.

And yes, I’m aware of all the emails from the Observer. I haven’t even bothered to forward those to any of you. I just archive them.

I don’t recommend feeding that monster (albeit an un-scary one). It’s insatiable. . .

But I’ve dealt with far worse.

Love to all,

Dear SCS, I very much enjoyed our phone conversation last week and yes we are on the same page with regards to the care and attention this forum deserves. There is still a lot to learn and I will try to be more active in the future. Thank you for the extended permissions even if I don't know what to do with them but I'll figure it out eventually.

As for the Observer character, part of me is curious to see those emails but I know it's just gonna make my brain hurt to try and read them.

Take care all,
mj
