Ray's earlier attorney, Arthur J. Hanes, has an interesting history too. He was the Mayor of Birmingham, Alabama during one of the biggest media events of the 1960s -- the Civil Rights Movement, centered in Birmingham.
Arthur J. Hanes (October 19, 1916 - May 8, 1997) served as mayor of Birmingham, Alabama between 1961 and 1963, a tumultuous time that saw the city become a focal point in the burgeoning African-American Civil Rights Movement (1955-1968). ... Hanes would also serve as legal counsel for defendants in two important murder cases connected to the civil rights movement.
Hanes also defended the accused murderers of a civil rights worker as well as a group of men accused of being KKK members by Life Magazine.

No prob, Hoi, and a special thanks for everything else you do for the forum. :)

Lux, The mayoral connection you mentioned is noteworthy. Following the path of Percy Foreman's client, Charles Harrelson (Woody's dad), we can find some other curious political positions that were attained after the Harrelson affair. Check out this drama first...

'Jamiel Alexander Chagra (December 7, 1944 – July 25, 2008) was a Lebanese-American drug trafficker. He was implicated in the May 1979 assassination of John H. Wood, Jr. in San Antonio, Texas.'

"Harrelson was convicted of killing Judge Wood after being hired by drug dealer Jamiel Chagra of El Paso. Wood — nicknamed "Maximum John" because of his reputation for handing down long sentences for drug offenses — was originally scheduled to have Chagra appear before him on the day of his murder, but the trial had been delayed.

Harrelson was apprehended with the aid of an anonymous tip and a tape recording of a conversation that occurred during a visit from Joe Chagra to his brother Jamiel Chagra in prison. Harrelson claimed at trial that he did not kill Judge Wood, but merely took credit for it so he could claim a large payment from Chagra."

And, of course, this is worthy of mention...

"In September 1982, Harrelson surrendered to police after a six-hour standoff in which he was reportedly "high on cocaine". During the standoff, he threatened suicide and "confessed" to killing Judge Wood and President John F. Kennedy. Joseph Chagra later testified during Harrelson's trial that Harrelson claimed to have shot Kennedy and drew maps to show where he was hiding during the assassination"

"According to Jim Marrs in 1989's Crossfire, Harrelson is believed to be the youngest and tallest of the "three tramps" by many assassination researchers. Marrs stated that Harrelson was involved "with criminals connected to intelligence agencies and the military and suggested the he was connected to Jack Ruby through Russell Douglas Matthews, a third party with links to organized crime who was known to both Harrelson and Ruby."

So, it looks like after Harrelson was ultimately convicted, he went to an Atlanta prison, tried to escape and was eventually sent to the Colorado Supermax prison I have previously talked about in another thread.

And out of all of this....

The public defender from the Chagra trial, Oscar Goodman, eventually became the mayor of Las Vegas.

The judge from the Chagra trial, William Sessions, eventually became the director of the FBI.

The MLK assassination was quite the political launching point for a few of the assassination 'witnesses' as well.

Rev. Jesse Jackson
Jackson went on to expand his arm of Operation Breadbasket, which evolved into Operation PUSH, and eventually into the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition. In both 1984 and 1988 he ran for president.
sidenote :
Jesse Louis Jackson, Jr.(born March 11, 1965) is a former American politician who represented Illinois's 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives until his resignation in 2012.
Jesse Jackson Jr. He is the son of activist and former presidential candidate Jesse Jackson. His wife, Sandi Jackson, formerly served on the Chicago City Council. He served as a national co-chairman of the 2008 Barack Obama presidential campaign.
Ambassador Andrew Young
Young went on to became a U.S. Congressman, mayor of Atlanta, a United Nations Ambassador and is now co-chairman of Good Works International, a consulting firm.
Rev. Samuel "Billy" Kyles
Kyles is a founding member of the National Board of People United to Save Humanity (PUSH), the executive director of Rainbow/PUSH-Memphis and the executive producer of Rainbow/PUSH WLOK Radio. Kyles also worked on Jesse Jackson's 1984 and 1988 presidential campaigns and was a delegate to the First African National Congress. He was appointed by President Bill Clinton to serve on the Advisory Committee on Religious Freedom Abroad.
Quote from Kyles
"Ka-POW!" Kyles said in describing the gunshot as he stood near King on a balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis. "I turned and looked. He had been knocked from the railing back onto the floor. Much of his face had been torn off. Blood was everywhere."

Funny how some related to the SCLC or Rainbow/PUSH such as Jesse Jackson and the Rev. Al Sharpton always come out to 'stir the pot' regarding events such as the Trayvon Martin incident among numerous others.

The Beauty and the Gullibility: An American Portrait at DC

The Beauty and the Gullibility: An American Portrait at DC

In this recent article about commemorating Martin Luther King's legacy, and his gorgeous masterpiece, the I Have A Dream speech, many strange and contradictory elements of the inter-American experience come to a head. It was apparently written by the enigmatic Suzanne Goomba Gamboa of Associated Perps.
goomba_med.gif
goomba_med.gif (3.72 KiB) Viewed 24263 times
The article is just surreal. Apparently puzzled together and arranged into the semblance of a whole story by "Suzanne", the entire spirit of the gathering is downplayed, subtly mocked, and seemingly paraded as a success of distraction, deception and delusion for the indulgence of celebrity-worshiping apathy.

There are paid liars speaking for truth, grassroots activists deluded about justice, long-term Civil Rights activists apparently dizzied and disoriented about what to talk about, and a whole host of other incredible mixtures. What has it really been like to be there? One would never know from reading this article. Depicted as something just short of a sideshow, but barely some pathetic, ill-marked milestone of civilization, the recent stands and gatherings made in the seat of Federal power, the District of Columbia apparently only inspires and confuses, and is written as if it makes no sense.

http://news.yahoo.com/marching-kings-dr ... 41094.html

While there are vague hints at the point from the article:
Eric Holder, the nation's first black attorney general, said he would not be in office, nor would Barack Obama be president, without those who marched.
Holder mentioned gays and Latinos, women and the disabled as those who had yet to fully realize the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream.

... of course, no broad acknowledgement of the double-standards, criminal injustices and prejudices built into American law can be mentioned without bringing up 9/11 - seemingly out of nowhere, and never addressed.
Longtime activist Al Sharpton, now a MSNBC host [ie; paid liar], implored young black men to respect women and reminded them that two of the leading figures in the civil rights movement of the 1960s were women.

"Rosa Parks wasn't no ho," he said. "And Fannie Lou Hamer wasn't no bitch."

Speakers frequently mentioned persistent high unemployment among blacks, which is about twice that of white Americans, and the acquittal of George Zimmerman for the shooting death of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin in Florida. Along the Mall, Martin's picture was nearly as ubiquitous as King's. [What can one say about a cartoon character religious idol built out of cold, inhumane deception representing truths? The Catholic church does it. Shouldn't activists?]

Nancy Norman, of Seattle, said she was disappointed more people who look like her had not attended. She is white. But the 58-year-old she said she was glad to hear climate change discussed alongside voting rights.

"I'm the kind of person who thinks all of those things are interconnected. Climate change is at the top of my list," said Norman. "I don't think it's one we can set aside for any other discussion." [Why? Another odd and misplaced remark recorded in this article supposedly about civil rights. But nothing quite does it like yet another ...]

Those in attendance arrived in a post-9/11 Washington [?] that was very different from the one civil rights leaders visited in 1963. [Red brackets by me - HP]

Furthermore, what could these assholes (who have done nothing in their esteemed power to advance Civil Rights and have done plenty to reverse course on them) have anything to do with this movement? Whatsoever?! It sounds like the Goombas are being called in to crowd control. I guess the less experienced, post-modern audience will lap it up just because they have celebrity names speaking to them:
On the day of the anniversary, President Barack Obama will speak from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. He will be joined by former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter.
Oh, brother.

Where are the real public leaders of our country? What has happened? Three "Presidents" coming to brown-nose and side-track the conversation is seen as some kind of activist success? Fucking hell. The USA really is washed up and thoroughly pwned by the simulation. Fucking depressing. I guess killing him in the eyes of the public wasn't enough, they also have to slowly torture his legacy to death. What was MLK really all about? Was this the plan from the beginning? Absorbing him and the Black Panthers into the echelons of elitist power, to seduce them with military might, to give us a "Black" Commander-in-chief in order to erase their humanity, downplay their positive message, separate the truly powerful and compassionate African-American community leaders via initiation into the sadistic power structure?

Once again, the canyon-like gap between the rich and the poor widens. And all it took to eliminate the most powerful American wrench in the machine was to make the 1% just a little bit darker in skin tone. It's like the Executive Branch & Friends puppet show is in "black face" and the willing sell-outs are the living embodiment of the shoe shine.

Can we be sure that MLK was actually killed ? maybe it was another manipulation of the masses together with JFK's and his brother's assassinations

IMHO people like Gandhi , Mandela , Wałęsa or MLK are used by the PTB to steer social paradigm change into their desired direction in a contained fashion . It's a Gattopardo-like ( after the Italian movie about a fake revolution in a Sicilian town ) operation .

Somebody , somewhere decided that it would be beneficial for big business/vested interest to include black Americans into the "American dream " more broadly so they can have their share of credit card debt , mortgages , student loans etc. One might think about this process as of a giant capacity utilization improvement operation . After such a decision was made , to move them from 19th century style slavery to 20th century modern bank credit dependence some potential problems might have been displayed in front of Oligarchy's greedy eyes . What are we going to do when the blacks armed with their new rights start demanding proper compensation for years of abuse and injustice ?

Well people like MLK come in handy with all their peaceful struggle ideology. This way everything changes and stays the same simultaneously :)

Martin Luther King in the US , Gandhi in India , Wałęsa in Poland , Mandela in South Africa ..

Thanks to these people being in power after Gattopardo revolution is brought about criminals responsible for "old" systems' wrongdoings are safe and ready to keep on looting in a new environment .

"Truth and reconciliation" commission in Africa or "Round Table " in Poland come to mind .

Rinse and repeat :)

Thx Brian :)

I suspect that if Martin Luther King Jr. had been identified as a real threat to American ruling oligarchy and capable of kick starting a genuine African-American emancipation movement he would have been neutralized in the very beginning , after a first sign of his effectiveness . Either via "accident" , assassination , blackmail or whatnot . He wouldn't be all over the news, textbooks etc.

Various "assassinations" throughout history of certain political figures/actors are a part of myth creating process to steer the minds of masses in a desired direction . These myths are later used to fuel various conspiracy theories . JFK was killed for his decree 0001 because it was a deadly threat to Federal Reserve for example :)

One needs to understand that these people weren't allowed to rise that high in "power' structure if it was a slight chance of them going against their puppet masters . There is simply no need to kill them . Do Hollywood screenwriters actually kill their actors if they want them out of the story ? :)

Right now I am witnessing Lech Kaczyński's myth creation in Poland . IMHO the main reason of Smolensk "crash" is fucking with ordinary Poles' minds and mental preparation for a future confrontation with Russia .

As a conclusion it would be useful to assume that the real populists/revolutionists end up like Gracchi brothers in ancient Rome . They were sentenced to death for coming up with a silly idea of debt cancellation for the urban poor . Noble Cicero was instrumental in sealing their fate :)

p.s.

I am not sure about Malcolm X . Maybe he was legit .

That's what this thread is all about. Thanks for your thoughts. What I'd meant by "in the eyes of the public" was that to the ordinary folks it certainly seemed he was shot, and possibly by someone within government. But my natural inclination at this point is to wonder if that is so.

It's interesting to bring up Gandhi and others as parallel 'versions' of the same phenomenon. For the most part, I can agree that they are. On the other hand, can I just make the mental leap to assuming that it's all entirely controlled?

No, I don't think it's so black and white (if you excuse a pun for the topic at hand). I think some people they control subtly, some people they acquire with assurances and then steer in a particular direction over time, and some they do outright murder or leave alone completely.

The power-psychos seem to be making their decisions based on something not entirely rational. A bit like an occult religion or random board meetings that they manage to throw together. I don't buy the "Oz, Great and Powerful", so to speak. I think we are nearly on the same page since you speculate an exception for the great Malcolm X.

I wish we could know somehow, but it seems we'd need psychics who can magically see chosen areas of the past to really understand how much was faked, how much staged and how much improvised by the power-psychos.

Whether they created MLK Jr or not it seems that powerful forces allowed the Civil Rights movement to develop and largely coalesce around him only to eliminate him, either physically or figuratively leaving a newly formed power bloc that was ripe for co-opting in the way we see these days. Some of us, well me, forget just how beloved the establishment is these days by so many people. I grew up with distrust for authority, no more than fearful and begrudging respect for the cops at most and no association of US military might and imperialism or American corporate interests with any sense of pride, belonging or approval in any manner whatsoever. All powerful established orders be it medical, educational, financial etc were considered highly suspect unless proven otherwise and they never were.

Cut to these times where we love our troops, corporations, politicians, doctors, teachers, crappy tv shows, lousy corporate music and pretty much everything despised by youth in the 60's , 70's and even into the 80's when the memes started to really turn around. This was done so skillfully that shitheads like Obama can maintain a visage of "fighting the power" while being at least the public face of that very same power. Have we gotten so dumbed down and naive that crap like this beguiles and wins over the public so easily? Has critical thinking and objectivity become so extinct that emotional triggers and an ever changing story are enough to create Boston Strong Zombies utterly unable and unwilling to view the giant holes in this and so many reality tv type news events?

The overall atrophy of our suspicion and distrust genes as views the establishment suggest our mutation into a doomed species and maybe deservedly so. Having been gifted with phenomenally powerful brains we've let the screwheads buy us off and dumb us down to the point that most people I meet seem to trust the government and the press whatever noises they make to the contrary. Those of us on this forum are an isolated bunch and our views held in quarantine by most everyone not here. Finding an open mind willing to consider the ideas here to the point of doing their own research is a rare thing and maybe impossible to find for the most part. What should be intelligent, discerning, skeptical or openly distrustful and unyielding members of society are now supporting the troops and baking cookies for cops. My joking that "as soon as that cop gets his foot off my face I'm going to thank him for my freedom" fail to go over with the very youth who should be making such comments themselves. I don't know, I'm pretty disgusted, I happened to see an Obama facebook thing a customer sent that had so many likes and prObama comments that it just made me sick...

Joseph Louw was the person credited for snapping the photos on the balcony immediately after the shooting event. Louw, who worked for a South African media corp., was checked into the hotel and was said to be working with King on a documentary film. After snapping the photos, he then took them to be developed by Ernest Withers, 'one of the most celebrated photographers of the US civil rights era.' Withers would later posthumously be unmasked as an FBI informant.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... rmant.html

A strange thing to note about the most famous balcony photo (aside from the apparent lack of emotion from the subjects at ground level...) -- depending on who you source it from, it may include a wall mounted fire extinguisher behind the pointing people, or it may not.

Would these people who were supposedly in their hotel rooms at the time of the actual impact be able to identify the direction of the source of a single gunshot? Also, could they simply be captured (or placed) pointing their fingers in a direction away from where the purported gunman was said to have fired from to create yet another purposeful government 'conspiracy?'

I get it, maybe.

Here's the scenario, call me crazy if you wish. The reflection of the fire extinguisher may be a subtle hint or it may have just sent my overactive imagination reeling.

Martin Luther King knew his stuff was coming to a head. He knew there were people really meaning to kill him. Malcolm X was already taken care of and that was because he was not only powerful, but he was turning to the powerful peace movement if you believe Hailey's biography. So the potential for being effective was meaning death to those crucial activists of the 60's successfully beating back the terrible propaganda machine at work.

So the King family decided to kill him themselves. To try to control the legacy, to make a lasting impression and so the government couldn't character assassinate him, etc. In other words, they needed to make him a martyr fast, before the death-propaganda machine swooped in. They needed to forever cement the true importance of the Dream and they felt that pre-empting a plot to destroy him would be the best way to stop the shadow government from undoing him. Putting out the fire before it happens. Hence, fire extinguisher being needed/not needed. The reflection remaining. In other words, the dream preserved. The performance of the disappearing firebrand that was the great Doctor/Reverend King.

So they faked his death, with help, and scurried away to control the legacy from behind the scenes. (If this is a proven possibility, could it possibly be what happened with Michael Jackson as well? And perhaps the real Paul McCartney was similar - wishing to live a quiet peaceful life in the country and escape the Beatlemania. This would also gave Faul the opportunity to train with the real Paul and learn things about him better than a mere collective memory could.)

Just as a President has doppelgängers, so the celebrity activist movement folks were learning how to use similar services. Perhaps all of this can be sort of "purchased" from the intelligence industry given the right connections and the right price? Perhaps this also explains JFK's seemingly faked/prepared-for "death". Perhaps the reason MLK had a similar ambition was because JFK did it so well, pulled it off successfully, and proved it could be done, and whoever is doing this kind of service who sold the Kennedy family on the idea (to preserve the Kennedy legacy before scandal undid such pivotal moments in the nation's history) also did so for the Kings?

Could it also be that this 'preserving of legacy' might be a kind of 'offer one can't refuse' and there has been a public relations struggle to retain the heroic stories of these pseudo-martyrs later? A battle between liberal and conservative forces in the media, both using it as a weapon powered by money and influence?

This may be a bit generous to the folks involved, but I am always occasionally willing to give some benefit of the doubt as long as it still covers the facts we learn from photo/video forensics and acknowledge that it's all merely speculation beyond that.

Although I see MrSinclair's point as well; it might have been steered heavily from the very beginning, and I'm only imagining a drama that the players would love us to believe.
