Breaking news from Lagos, Nigeria:

AIRPLANE CRASHES INTO MANGO TREE. KILLS COW. 153 FEARED DEAD.

Image
http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/i ... lagos.html

" The aircraft was reported to have lost control as it hovered in the air before it eventually crashed into a mango tree, killed a cow and made control flight into a residential building adjoining a warehouse. It burst into flames a few minutes later."

Well, it now appears the plane didn't crash into a mango tree, after all : it crashed into (depending on which news flash we prefer to believe) either one, two, three or four buildings - including a church. The flight reportedly declared emergency/mayday 11 nautical miles out of Lagos airport before crashing - killing all 147 passengers and 6 crew members. No confirmation yet in the international press regarding the cow casualty.

LATEST UPDATE:
The "Nigerian Eye" now reports:
Image
"Update: Un-Confirmed reports suggets that this boy survived...."
http://www.nigerianeye.com/2012/06/brea ... lagos.html

But is the miraculous sole survivor a boy or a girl? Was he/she unhurt or "badly wounded"? White or black?
"Several eyewitnesses, including a rescue worker, confirmed the story of the young survivor. Though her nationality and other details about her are not yet known, the eye witnesses said she was white. She was also said to have been badly wounded and was immediately rushed off for medical attention."

UPDATE:
The cockpit recorder has already been found! : http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/6 ... eckage.jpg
... and the 'full passenger manifest' is already out. Who said Africa was an 'underdeveloped' place?

PASSENGER MANIFEST: http://www.elombah.com/index.php/articl ... sh-victims

Look out for passenger named: "Hope"
and the last name listed : "mbang"

Ok, so - admittedly - I'm no expert in Nigerian names... <_<

Interestingly, it seems that DANA AIR's slogan is "Hope for Nigeria"...

re: AFRICAN EFFICIENCY:

What did I tell you? Africa is a FAR more efficient place than you'd ever imagine!

Less than 12 hours after the event, not only has the flight recorder promptly been retrieved - and the full passenger manifest speedily released online...

...We also have wholesome PHOTOS of a few passengers, such as the photogenic Anyene family:

The uncharred cockpit, complete with unbroken windows.
I wonder what the coroner will write in his report, concerning the pilots 'cause of death'...

As if tempting "angel-hood" in fact. Be careful what you wish for kids!

And I wouldnt go sending any money to the Disaster Fund just yet. Nigeria comes second to the USA for it's scam artists.

Are we to believe the entire tail section was moved (manually?) to its location in image 2?

The curious case of actress "OKEKE HOPE"

Image

I've just been looking around for any clues indicating whether this Lagos aircrash may be yet another 'fishy-fake' event (for lack of more accurate word...). After all, that's what we do here at Cluesforum, so I might just give it a go. I'll spare you for now a summary of my cross-comparisons of the various Flight Manifests which, yet again (*sigh*) appear to be a shambles - what with the usual mess of mismatching/misspelled/truncated/conflicting names, and so on and so forth.

For now, I'll just pick out, shall we say, a 'control-case' of sorts (alleged victim OKEKE HOPE which Wickedpedia now has listed in their shortlist of "prominent victims" of the Lagos aircrash). We learn that she's an actress, so I went to IMDb and found out that she appears to have indeed acted in one Nigerian movie named "DIRTY DEAL" (1993). http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2208320/

I was unable to find more info about the movie - or about Okeke Hope (or 'Hope Okeke') herself. She has, however, a Facebook page so, regardless if Fakebook may seem a less-than-serious research source, let's see what it looks like. Firstly, there is no visible activity on it - only a string of 'her own' FB uploads (personal info and pictures ) - ALL of them dated January 24 this year. Now, she has 20 friends. Let me ...ehrm... subjectively choose a bunch of them:

Okoye Cynthia
Okoye Cynthia (yes, two separate ones)
Okoro Chisom
Okorie Chidi
Okolie Ebuka Golden Boy
Okoli Nnaemeka

What are the odds for 6 out of OKEKE's 20 friends to sound as if created with some computer-algorithm ?

Here are another five of her friends:

Chukwu Ihuoma Theresa
Anichukwu Tochi
Eberechukwu Jimmy
Ugochukwu Anderson
Udechukwu Jeffron Harrison Ebuka

So again, I'm NO expert in Nigerian names - but I find the above friend list a tad too 'coincidental'.

the most recently updated VICTIM LIST of the DANA aircrash:
http://saharareporters.com/news-page/da ... ngers-list

Some interesting/bizarre readers' comments can be found there, such as these two:
by Anonymous:
"No 83...Maj Gen T Umar is hale, fit and healthy.we all wish him longer time on earth so as to uphold his dedication toward the defence of this nation.May the deceased soul rest in perfect peace."

by Anonymous:
"Akinsanya Moyo & Akinsanya Omonigho are not dead. They were disembarked from the flight before it took off."

That's all for now. <_<

Looks like it was filmed on a gray day and someone wanted to add some artificial, digital sunlight to the scene. Was this shot in a sand pit in the UK?

Is this actually how you would lift an injured person on to a stretcher? One person for each ankle, someone grabbing the wrists, no one supporting the head despite there being plenty of people to help.
Lots of people gleamingly clean clothing there!
The perspective of the top centre part of the photo to the top left hand side of the pic looks interesting. Is that a wall with heads looking over it, people sitting on it?
