Edgware road fatality Colin Morley.
Died at 52 with 25,000 words of tribute* devoted to him at the
Be the Change site.
Colin's possible death was first mentioned
here where amusingly half of the posters admit to never hearing of the group.
The tributes are apparently written by people "from Sweden, the US, New Zealand, Switzerland, Australia, Great Britain and a Tibetan monastery in Nova Scotia, Canada".
As far as I can tell his Wife & 3 Son's (Ros, Jake, Gavin & Oliver) don't exist & no-one has bothered posting a tribute at '
Be the Change' since early 2006.
However elsewhere two others have claimed to know him...
Simon Cohen from the BBC Radio
Pause for Thought segments...
When I learned that a friend, Colin Morley, was among those killed in the Edgware Road attack, I remember feeling sick to the core.
And
Martin Dewhurst apparently the (very quiet & only once photoed) founder of an
NGO...
Dear Colin,Just a quick Ecademy message. Can you believe it's been 7 years since our last meeting? Me neither!!Funnily, I think of you every time I drive past the motorway sign for Morley, West Yorkshire and always smile at the diary entry for our last early morning meeting ..."Morley @ Morley for Breakfast". :-)We never did make our follow up one-to-one in London on July 11th as arranged.Obviously, I appreciate you're on a whole new assignment now and your diary is blocked out now for the foreseeable. Suffice to say, 7/7 is always marked in my diary, just in case you're available somehow.Thinking of you as always.Very best wishesMartin
Lets have a look at some of these words of tribute from '
Be the Change'...
Since meeting Colin, I always felt that I was in the prescence of someone who was completely genuine
I will miss him dearly, and his spirit will always be with us. A true angel
I did not remember his name but his face is so familiar in my memories. I do not find the right words. bur I knoe I have lost a friend
From the outpouring below, we can see how you were and are an "angel" to so many
Thank you for being you. Heaven has received another angel.
His infectious laugh, huge zest for life and great sense of fun were all part of Colin
his energy, humour and enthusiasm was infectious.
I had forgotten how his ideas could be so infectious.
I remember his comments, his smile....
Never met Colin, so i feel i should not be writing here....
I have never heard of Colin and our paths have never crossed...but I wish they had
I know that your smile will stay with us all
I feel your loving presence, those kind eyes and gentle smile
I looked into your eyes and felt your smile go deeper into you than most
This feel so strange, I felt that we connected deeply virtually with mail exchanges and conversations
I look at his smiling face and smile myself
As I write this tribute to you there are tears rolling down my face but I am also able to smile
I’ll remember you with a smile, and an extra reminder to live a true life
We only had a brief chat but the smile and the hug he gave me lit my day
His smile, his enthusiasm, his questioning intelligence... yes, Colin Morley was a very good man
I think of Colin I also remember his warm, shy smile.
may we all live as Colin did. Touch by touch. Smile by Smile.
Such genuine positivity and positive genuineness is something beautiful and powerful. That a stranger such as myself can be so saddened by this loss and yet so motivated
etc, etc...
* Or 18,000 by 25/7/05 according to
the Guardian (I estimate there were 30,000 words there at that time... assuming no backdating. There are ~33,000 words there now)
