Re: The SSSS
I do not understand the purpose of this thread. I am told to believe that our visible UNIVERSE started with a big bang 14 500 million years ago releasing particles of all kind with plenty energy and mass out of nothing at enormous temperature and pressure. After some time our UNIVERSE cooled down a ...

Re: Why Rocketry Doesn't Work in the Vacuum
(...) i.e. why rocketry works everywhere. Everywhere? So why do NASA / ESA rockets proceed at about 20km/h (bicycle speed) in their first 100m of flight, Heiwa? How can that be? It is because the rockets accelerate from start velocity 0 km/h when burning fuel, ejecting mass and losing weight. After...

Re: Why Rocketry Doesn't Work in the Vacuum
Actually the liquid rocket fuel is burnt and becomes a hot gas that is ejected through a nozzle into the external environment, e.g. the vacuum of space. As the liquid fuel has a mass that becomes a gas with same mass that is ejected from the rocket, the rocket, while losing mass/fuel, will accelerat...

Re: Why Rocketry Doesn't Work in the Vacuum
http://www.osha.gov/pls/imis/accidentsearch.accident_detail?id=14321087 This is a very strange accident. Outside pressure is abt 1000 hP and inside the vacuum chamber on the other side of the the porthole is vacuum and pressure 0 hP as all or 99% of the air inside has been pumped out. Why the porth...

It works fine, IMHO
But I agree that the ISS does not exist, so whatever they sent up in LEO never reached the non-existing ISS. The show must go on!

Re: What is Gravity?
But you suggest that two masses stacked on top of each other create a force. Do four masses stacked on top of each other create two forces? Any mass stacked onto mass will create a force against that mass. Can you be a bit more clearer in what you are suggesting please. OK - Say that Your Mass, YM,...

Re: What is Gravity?
The weight is the mass upon mass upon mass, etc, creating a force like people would, stacked on top of each other. The people on top are only exerting their own force but those at the bottom are exerting their own force onto the ground but also have to contend with the forces above. So people or a w...

On the rocket.brianv wrote:"Just blow out the hot gases in vacuum and the rocket moves due to the force applied."
ON WHAT?
Or its combustion chamber. No vacuum there.

Re: Why Rocketry Doesn't Work in the Vacuum
Heiwa, you have evidently not spent enough time away from the thread to gather what I'm saying. Just a few pages back in the Rocketry thread this was pulled from, you were telling us about Newton and that anything propels a rocket as long as it has mass. So I don't know what you are saying any more...

Re: ENDEAVOUR - and the spaced-out NASA efforts
* Heiwa wrote in this other forum thread: It seems we all agree that the French Ariane 5 is the best rocket today Heiwa, I'm scratching my head over a question which I hope you can help clarify for me: The Ariane apparently weighs about 760.000kg. It's stated total power at take-off is 13MN (Mega N...

Re: Why Rocketry Doesn't Work in the Vacuum
http://www.cluesforum.info/download/file.php?id=120 Evidently a pump on solid Earth pumping up water to a balloon (or rocket) in the sky that then allows the water to drop down to Earth again as rain cannot drive the rocket. The only propulsion device that really works on a rocket is where a mass o...

Re: Why Rocketry Doesn't Work in the Vacuum
My ridiculous water rocket above is operating on the ridiculous notion of a pump that is so powerful, and a hose so strong, that it can actually blast off 40 kilometers or more into the air and keep an object hovering because that object does not actually require any fuel on board, it just has to s...

Re: Why Rocketry Doesn't Work in the Vacuum
Water's proven effectiveness according to Heiwa should mean if we pump enough water quickly enough, a rocket that works like the jet board could surpass all previous ineffective and cumbersome models of rocketry. Not really! A water jet on a boat just pumps water from the sea and adds some extry en...
