Re: Satellites : general discussion and musings

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_sign Why don't satellites have or broadcast a call sign Joe? Let me guess - it would be a waste of power? If I were a designer I would make sure that the satellite had no means of visual or radio identification! The call sign of the International Space Station was ...

Re: Satellites : general discussion and musings

To brianv Just did a little research, and of course there is a call sign for each satellite. So for example the satellite I mostly use Hotbird 6 has the ID 2008-065A, geostationary 13E, Frequency 10971 Mhz. And here you can track the satellites: http://www.n2yo.com/?s=33459 The International Designa...

Re: Satellites : general discussion and musings

I did not say once, I saw several times objects, that obviously are not airplanes or meteorits flying in high altitudes. I even saw them from the ground on a clear night. I am sure you saw them during your nightly walks.

Re: Satellites : general discussion and musings

No cannot be airplanes, since they were above my cruising altitude of 40'000ft and had no rotating beacon (don't you love that) and moved faster than an airplane. There is even a app were you can locate these satellites, I never used it but with that you could probably track a satellite.

Re: Satellites : general discussion and musings

Depends on our house, if it's a wooden ceiling and large windows it still might work. Try to go under a bridge or a large building like a mall, you will not get any GPS.

Re: Satellites : general discussion and musings

Fair enough, I agree it would be interesting to know more. For example someone mentioned, how does the satellite come out of the rocket and intalls its solar panels etc. All interesting stuff, maybe we have once a satellite engineer or rocket scientist explaining this. I still think a lot of it secr...

Re: Satellites : general discussion and musings

Again, I am just trying to understand this NASA circus. If someone somewhere has some credible information, he should come forward. I think NASA and all the other space agencies lied in many aspects. However there has to be some other real science in this large industry. The clowns in Hollywood and ...

Re: Satellites : general discussion and musings

No, just trying to find my way through the lies. Gerorge Orwell wrote: Who controls the past controls the future. And he was right. he lies of NASA from the past are the truth today. None of this crap they claimed can be proved today. Gemini, Mercury, Apollo programs, what about the Shuttle and the ...

Re: Satellites : general discussion and musings

I did not name you as "the troll", sorry if you feel offended. However there are too many guys here that just post stuff that after just a little bit of reflection defies logic and commonsense. As I mentioned earlier, if this forum expects to be respected it needs not to drift into weird c...

Re: Satellites : general discussion and musings

To Critical Mass: I just read about all of this thread and most others regarding the ISS, shuttle and moon hoax. And I am very interested to learn more and I am shocked of the amount of deception from NASA and other so called "space agencies". I am on the other not interested in wasting ti...

Re: Satellites : general discussion and musings

What are you smoking mate? And you really believe we would see that tiny LED light 200 miles away? Get a life. Again, if I would design a satellite a useless beacon would be the last thing. Every gram counts when you send a satellite into space. Every photocell has a function and I am sure there are...

Re: ENDEAVOUR - and the spaced-out NASA efforts

Thanks Lux. Strange smoke coming out of the left "engine" at time 7.35. Those rocket engine should have been turned off days ago or not? Also the shuttle landed during daylight, why does it takes hours until night until they finally disembark? Wouldn't they be eager to get the hell out of ...

Re: Satellites : general discussion and musings

I don't work for NASA. And still I don't see any reason to waste important energy on a satellite for a wasteful useless light. It is better to use this energy for more important task I would think.

Has anybody a video or picture where you can see the space shuttle crew exit the shuttle after landing?

Re: Satellites : general discussion and musings

To brianv: Why should there be lights on satellites? There are Nav lights on airplanes to make it visible and avoid a collision. To Sukiari: Why do claim that all GPS signal are ground based? For what reason. Expensive ground station with 300m towers like LORAN are heavy maintenance and investment. ...
