Too bad Sally Pearson just withdrew.
'Bookish' Australians indifferent to Olympics success

AUSTRALIA’S woeful Olympics medal tally is due to its residents’ disdain for any activity that emphasises the physical over the mental, it has been claimed.

The nation’s lack of concern for putting one over on other countries, particularly Britain, is another key factor.

Internationalist Nikki Hollis said: “Most nations would be smarting with humiliation at their resoundingly abysmal record in these games but not the Australians, an enigmatic people dedicated to the life of the mind who rarely travel outside their own shores.

Until 1996, ‘rough sports’, a category which included rugby, surfing and cricket, were specifically banned in the Australian constitution as it was feared that they may distract young people from their studies of vers libre, dodecaphonic composition and ethnological art.

“Under protest from their own citizens, the government partly repealed these laws but only to introduce Australian Rules Football, a watered down version of the game which, according to those who have played it is ‘more like a mixture of chess and expressive dance’.
...
“To them, physical competition and noisy collective celebration are as insignificant as the number of medals they have won in these Olympics.”

 Yeah, good one! Aussie rugby fans don't consider Aussie Rules real football either, they call it 'aerial ping pong' :P

Aussies do win a disproportionate number of Olympic medals (22 so far) considering the population is only 22.6 million — compare that to China: 1.3 billion; America: 314 mil; UK: 62 mil.

Many may not know that Paul Hogan was famous in Aus for his TV comedy show in the 70s–80s, long before his Crocodile Dundee movies ;)

Can't resist the temptation to come back here for a moment and say this:
I spent so much time and energy as a teenager at Haileybury College in Melbourne doing tennis,
cricket, football, athletics, gymnastics and swimming that it put me off sport for the rest of my life - from the moment I left school I wanted to have nothing more to do with it. Even now I can't watch the goings-on in London for more than a minute.

Did you expect a nuclear explosion?

...

Here's what to do in case of a nuclear attack, by the way:

1. Stay clear of all windows.

2. Keep hands free of glasses, bottles, cigarettes, etc.

3. Stand away from bar, table, equipment and furniture.

4. Loosen necktie, unbutton coat and any other restrictive clothing.

5. Remove glasses, empty pockets of all sharp objects such as pens, pencils, etc.

6. Immediately upon seeing the brilliant flash of nuclear explosion, bend over and place your head firmly between your legs.

7. Then kiss your asshole goodbye.

Sites like Rense, Rumor Mill News and Red Ice were jammed with predictions about attacks at the Olympics. None of those prophets will say another word about it. They've all gone on to other things, mainly examining the murky past of Sim Holmes.

Some Aussie satire: http://thedailytrash.wordpress.com/2012 ... -ceremony/

Although it is pretty difficult to parody a parody, some of the commenters did a better job on this one I reckon ;)

730reportland:
Shit, .. We better seek the protection of baby cheeses!

armchair opinionator:
if you feed them they will come.

CA:
Yes, we masons worship the devil placing oath on a bible….

Reb:
“we masons worship the devil placing oath on a bible….”
Yes! An elaborate ruse to conceal their “real” motivations….
They’re cunning these Satan worshippers.

Splatterbottom:
Forget the ceremonial smoke and mirrors. The true god of the Olympic$ is Lucre, not Lucifer!

Better still...

A detailed breakdown of the recent movie trailers which all seem to be themed around the same thing - WAR and CHAOS! Will the Paralympics Closing Ceremony hold the false flag event that will trigger all of this? The signs certainly suggest so. Although we can never be certain of anything, it is hard to ignore the obvious connections they are making... maybe a little too obvious. Could just be another distraction from something bigger still yet to be seen... I'll let you decide.
