I haven't used any compressor, I just opened the file in virtualdub, selected the clip, cropped to selection, made an avi with it in *direct stream* (which means, changing nothing from the original format).hoi.polloi 4 Oct 26 2010, 06:16 PM wrote: There is something very wrong with the 2006 BBC clip. Maybe you don't have the codecs for that format?
I use this codec pack on my system: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_l ... c_pack.htm
I tried to recompress the clip like you ask, but for some reason virtualdub won't allow me. I guess the codecs I have are good for decoding, not for encoding. Or I am not savvy enough to pick the right codecs.
Without getting too technical, I know that file has something wrong because it shows in 4:3 while being 16:10 and yes it gives a warning in virtualdub (not a crash for me) BUT, if you use the codec pack I mentioned AND Media Player Classic (included in the pack), you should be able to open it. I have no problems on my PC.
