Interesting read. Shelves steeply when it begins to talk science of image inspection. The above logic of Exhaustive Search means little to me. Do you think these techniques can be employed as of now to get a more scientific opinion on less obviously fake images?

Yea, noticed the military sponsors. Thanks for the example above. So I understand Gimp can search images for evidence of copy-move and splicing. Did the software add the green and red areas, or is that your addition to highlight the relevant zones?
If there's a moment in the schedule, I'd like to know what Gimp can make of an example image. This one is a biggy from "9/11 photographers" thread, so I'll not post it again. Its the one of Pfeiffer in fetching yellow at the WTC wasteland. Visual observer doubts the relation of foreground and background, at least.
