Trump warns Iran if it hits any Americans or American assets 'we have targeted 52 Iranian sites'
By Jeremy Diamond, Caroline Kelly and Greg Clary, CNN
Updated 8:38 PM ET, Sat January 4, 2020

(CNN)Donald Trump on Saturday drew what may come to be seen as the most significant red line of his presidency in a three-part tweet, vowing specific military action against Iran if it "strikes any Americans, or American assets."

"We have ... targeted 52 Iranian sites (representing the 52 American hostages taken by Iran many years ago), some at a very high level & important to Iran & the Iranian culture" and "if Iran strikes any Americans, or American assets... Iran itself, WILL BE HIT VERY FAST AND VERY HARD," Trump wrote in a series of tweets.

Meh.. It won't be Iran's first time that's for sure.

What's that old saying about rodeos and cowboys?

Win lose or draw, Iran is still here!

How many of the other nations/empires on that list can make the same claim?

Takht-e Soleymān (Persian: تخت سلیمان‎), is an archaeological site in West Azarbaijan, Iran from Sasanian Empire. It lies midway between Urmia and Hamadan, very near the present-day town of Takab, and 400 km (250 mi) west of Tehran.

The fortified site, which is located on a hill created by the outflow of a calcium-rich spring pond, was recognized as a World Heritage Site in July 2003. The citadel includes the remains of a Zoroastrian fire temple built during the Sassanid period and partially rebuilt (as a mosque) during the Ilkhanid period. This temple housed one of the three "Great Fires" or "Royal Fires" that Sassanid rulers humbled themselves before in order to ascend the throne. The fire at Takht-i Soleiman was called ādur Wishnāsp and was dedicated to the arteshtar or warrior class of the Sasanid.[1] A 4th century[citation needed] Armenian manuscript relating to Jesus and Zarathustra, and various historians of the Islamic period, mention this pond. The foundations of the fire temple around the pond is attributed to that legend. Takht-E Soleyman appears on the 4th century Peutinger Map.

This site got its biblical name after the Arab invasion of Iran in the 7th century. Folk legend relates that King Solomon used to imprison monsters inside a nearby 100 m deep crater which is called Zendan-e Soleyman "Prison of Solomon". Solomon is also said to have created the flowing pond in the fortress.

Archaeological excavations have revealed traces of a 5th-century BC occupation during the Achaemenid period, as well as later Parthian settlements in the citadel. Coins belonging to the reign of Sassanid kings, and that of the Byzantine emperor Theodosius II (AD 408-450), have also been discovered there.

One truly cannot be helped (in any sort of enlightened sense) if he doesn’t realize his ignorance. Then there are those who know better, but will actively resist and do everything imaginable to try and derail those who wish to do good.

I’ve had a couple of “I give up” moments, so I understand the sentiment. Instead, I’ve had to sort of customize my efforts such that I can make at least some difference, but not allow myself to get knee-capped in the process.

I can’t speak for our other members, but, I suspect we have all had to find some balance in how we go about our lives . . . amongst the 99.999999% of people who have never heard of cluesforum.

A statement such as ‘the Jews are in control’ only tells a fraction of the story.
Would you please provide clarification on that simplistic quote, Kham? Is that your personal stance or do you mean to (wrongly) imply/insinuate that it's mine?

I appreciate your response but your working definition of "empire" doesn't work for me. IMO, it's too vague. It's impossible for two people to have a meaningful discussion on a given topic if they can't agree on the meaning of words (too Noam Chomsky-ish).

Anyhow, with your permission, I'll elaborate a bit on my Billy Graham/Christian Zionism post.

Billy Graham-Richard Nixon tapes: The one time Graham’s image was tarnished
Feb 21, 2018
By Debbie Lord

As Americans mourn the death of evangelist Billy Graham, you would be hard-pressed to find a time where “America’s Pastor” was held in anything other than the highest regard.

Graham managed during 60 years of preaching the Gospel to sidestep even a hint of scandal -- sexual, financial or otherwise.
However a revelation in 1994 of a conversation he had with then-President Richard Nixon turned out to be a source of embarrassment for Graham – not at the time it was disclosed by Nixon Chief of Staff H.R. Haldeman, but years later when a tape of the conversation was released by the National Archives.

At first, Graham denied comments Haldeman made in his book, "The Haldeman Diaries" that Graham and Nixon had disparaged Jews in a conversation following a prayer breakfast in Washington D.C. on Feb. 1, 1972. Haldeman said Graham had talked about a Jewish “stranglehold” on the country.

''Those are not my words," Graham said in May 1994. ''I have never talked publicly or privately about the Jewish people, including conversations with President Nixon, except in the most positive terms.''

Graham was believed and the matter dropped until 2002 when tapes from Nixon’s White House were released by the National Archives. The 1972 conversation between Nixon and Graham was among those tapes, and Graham had to face the fact that he had been recorded saying the things of which Haldeman accused him.

The tapes proved damning.

''They're the ones putting out the pornographic stuff,'' Graham had said to Nixon. The Jewish ''stranglehold has got to be broken or the country's going down the drain,'' he continued.

Graham told Nixon that Jews did not know his true feelings about them.

''I go and I keep friends with Mr. Rosenthal (A.M. Rosenthal) at The New York Times and people of that sort, you know. And all -- I mean, not all the Jews, but a lot of the Jews are great friends of mine, they swarm around me and are friendly to me because they know that I'm friendly with Israel. But they don't know how I really feel about what they are doing to this country. And I have no power, no way to handle them, but I would stand up if under proper circumstances.''

Rosenthal was the Times' executive editor.

After the release of the tapes, Graham was horrified, according to Grant Wacker, a Duke Divinity School professor who wrote a book about Graham. He publicly apologized and asked for forgiveness from Jewish leaders in the country.

"He did not spin it. He did not try to justify it," Wacker told NPR. "He said repeatedly he had done wrong, and he was sorry."

''I don't ever recall having those feelings about any group, especially the Jews, and I certainly do not have them now,'' Graham said in 2002 when the tape was released. ''My remarks did not reflect my love for the Jewish people. I humbly ask the Jewish community to reflect on my actions on behalf of Jews over the years that contradict my words in the Oval Office that day.''

President Richard Nixon, the Shah of Iran and Egypt’s President Anwar Sadat worked tirelessly, behind the scenes, on the Israeli Peace Process to no avail. Nixon resigned (to avoid impeachment) in 1974, The Shah abdicated his throne (to avoid bloodshed) in 1979 and Sadat was assassinated in 1981.

Henry “the ruthless pragmatist” Kissinger was Nixon’s National Security Advisor and Secretary of State (No one before or since Kissinger has held those two posts concurrently) and stayed on with Gerald Ford’s administration after Nixon resigned. A few weeks ago I watched a fascinating interview with a professor who’s written a new book about Nixon, Kissinger and Vietnam on C-SPAN. The author's conclusion, based on a tedious review of previously classified transcripts, was that Kissinger misinformed Nixon (thereby leading him to make horrible decisions) every step of the way on the war.

[If anyone finds the name of the book/author, I’d greatly appreciate it.]

Anyhow, Kissinger passed the NSA baton to Zbigniew “Green Islamic Belt” Brzezinski (without whom the “War on Terror” against “Radical Muslim Extremists” wouldn’t be possible). Zbigniew's daughter, Mika, is an MSNBC presstitute co-hoast with Joe Scarborough (the congressman who resigned because he was "fed up with DC politics" shortly before 9/11 when a female staffer "committed suicide" in his office).

Kissinger on Iran: Belts, Empires, and Getting it Wrong
by John Limbert

Henry Kissinger may be the grand old man of US foreign policy, but when it comes to understanding Iran, his analytical skills have begun to fade. In his NPR discussion with Scott Simon, broadcast Sept. 6, Kissinger got it monumentally wrong. One can only be grateful he is no longer making policy.

What is it about being national security adviser that leads to ill-advised “belt” meta¬phors? In the late 1970s, President Carter’s adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski famously (and incorrectly) spoke of a geographic “green belt” of Islam that would defend the Middle East against Soviet aggression. It turned out that, if such a belt existed, its inhabitants in Iran and Afghanistan—no matter how much they disliked the Soviets—inflicted serious damage on the United States. In the Iranian case, they toppled one American president (Carter) and nearly brought down another (Reagan).

Now Kissinger is talking not only of belts, but also of Persian empires. He told NPR that Iran is a “bigger problem” for the US than the vicious Islamic State, which is commonly referred to as ISIS. “There has come into being a kind of a Shia-belt from Tehran through Baghdad to Beirut,” said Kissinger. “And this gives Iran the opportunity to reconstruct the ancient Persian Empire, this time under a Shia label.”

Nonsense. As a scholar of history and a Harvard PhD, Kissinger should know better…

https://lobelog.com/kissinger-iran-belt ... -it-wrong/

I’m sure Kissinger & Brzezinski had America and Iran's best interests at heart. Surely they meant well. They just got the calculus wrong that’s all. And I'm positive that their hearts bleed for all of their fellow Jews.
