Re: Songs that Expose Truth (?)
Thank you dear Simon! Musically your material is far superior so I take that as the highest possible compliment!
Edit: incidentally the audio was all me on GarageBand (yes even the bass) and the video was an experimental first try on Final
Cut Pro. Amazing what one can do at home these days!
On my (now deleted) first channel I had some encouraging feedback and quite a few views on this video from notable researchers such as Anaconda Malt Liquor and Russ Brown. What Google giveth, Google taketh away

"MATTER OF TIME"
Dear friends, today I put together a simple 'karaoke video' for our band's old song "Matter of Time"(2015). This was the favourite track of my dear mother (a former mezzo-soprano opera singer) who decided that 'her time had come' in November 2016... Hope you'll enjoy and relax to this soft and soothing tune - as we go through these mad and harrowing times of ours.

Simon, I am not on FB nor do I want to; can you send me a link to a MP3 or even better, FLAC version of the song?simonshack wrote: ↑Fri Feb 10, 2023 9:21 pm *

With regard to the mad times; I have just returned from a trip to Kisoro where I stayed on the hillside of an old volcano. A simple room for 5 dollars a night including breakfast (bread and locally grown arabica coffee!). I drove there on my motorcycle and instead of taking the easy but longer route that's 10% dust 90% tarmac, I opted for the shortcut (50/50) and it was amazing. Up and down the mountains, my 110cc motorcycle pushed to the max on small dirt roads, using my limited knowledge of the language to find the way, balancing looking at the views with looking at the 'road' so I don't kill myself; epic! Then in Kisoro I enjoyed the local food, spend an evening with drunkards eating roasted maize, walked to a beautiful lake and returned yesterday with two kilos of dark roasted arabica beans. Now I am back in the world of social projects and thinking about how I am going to make sure I get my next visa, or if I even need to because I have a feeling things are going to get very interesting in the next few months. Maybe I should just disappear in this remote part of Africa, who knows? It seems like a legit option sometimes, but I guess it is my programming that leads me to a safe, government approved, route. Time will tell. For now, a beautiful song to start or end the day with!

Gosh, I wish I could hop on a plane to Uganda soon and come biking with you around the jungles. It's only a matter of time though - hopefully!

Pondering the stories of WWI trench warfare...
At the end of the satirical film "Oh! What A Lovely War" (1969) a melancholic sounding song plays out over an emotive scene: a group of men laying still in the grass merge into white crosses which pans out gradually to show rolling green fields covered in thousands of crosses as far as the horizon.

The lyrics, however, contrast sharply with the music and images.

Many a true word spoken in jest? And When They Ask Us
(Tune: 'They wouldn't believe me')
And when they ask us, how dangerous it was,
Oh, we'll never tell them, no, we'll never tell them:
We spent our pay in some cafe,
And fought wild women night and day,
'Twas the cushiest job we ever had.
And when they ask us, and they're certainly going to ask us,
The reason why we didn't win the Croix de Guerre,
Oh, we'll never tell them, oh, we'll never tell them
There was a front, but damned if we knew where.

I always thought Rock n Roll sold it's soul once the money men took over. Except for a brief respite when Punk rebelled against the corporate monster it had become. Enjoy.
