THE "CHATBOX"

A place to relax and socialize - to muse, think aloud and suggest

I am going to tape this phrase to the bottom frame of all my monitors.
The very act of running for office can be construed as an attempt to coerce others, a violation of their fundamental right to self-ownership and freedom from violence. In that light, even the "best" politicians are thugs.

If someone will send me an image of it, I will change my Facebook profile picture for the first time in 3 years. For the last 3 years my FB profile pic has been:

I like this Youtube personal message received today:

Your analysis is as always SPOT ON. You deserve 50 million dollars (or pounds) with a house overlooking the Ocean and a Gold Medal for Intelligence, Bravery and utter GENIUS. Thank you.

You know - I don't care as much about the 50 milion dollars as much as I treasure people appreciating our efforts. <_<
I have a feeling that scores of people - way more than we can imagine looking out from this little forum - are listening in.

Just a little reminder that our common endeavors here are certainly no waste of time. If you disagree - let me know! :)

WOOPSIE ! :o

As I sat typing a post yesterday afternoon (at 5:13PM) , an earthquake shook my house pretty heftily for a few seconds. I sprinted out my open studio door to the garden - like an Olympic runner!

Apparently, the epicentre was around the little hill town of Frascati where I live.

There were no apparent damages at all - at first sight. Only much later, as I went up to my sleeping room on the 2nd floor, did I discover that the old travertine chandelier (in the middle of the ceiling) had crashed down on the floor, breaking into a thousand pieces - a few of them landing on my bed!

No doubt! I have been one of those people for the last two years.

Edit: sorry to hear about the chandelier but glad you are ok!

Thanks for caring ! :)

Well, I just realized 'chandelier' was not the right description of it - (you'd think I live in some spooky, medieval castle - heh!).

I guess 'ceiling lampshade' (made of travertine limestone) is a more correct term - and I'd grown rather fond of it. Anyways, it was a pretty heavy dish, and I'm glad I wasn't beneath it when it came down...

RIP - old trusty lampshade! ^_^

Simon, are you sure the lampshade has broken into a thousand pieces ?,considering it had an almost "nose cone" like shape to it you might want to take another look..it could well have crashed through the floor and emerged through the ceiling undamaged.

Ridiculous.
Congress Passes Natural Disaster Digital-Enhancement Funding

WASHINGTON, DC—Congress approved legislation Monday allocating more than $30 billion for digital enhancement of natural disasters.
...
The legislation comes just in time to satisfy critics of the recent floods in Texas, panned by many as "fake-looking" and "a B-grade disaster, at best.

At the risk of saying something totally obvious, you know that The Onion is satire?

Of course I know it, and, FYI, The Daily Mash is the Brit version of The Onion.

oooh thanks! I'll take a look :) (can't think of an NZ equivalent off the top of my head! I guess there must be something, but not as well known) I love reading some of the comments on the Onion youtube videos from people who think they're watching a real news broadcast

Not surprising, with all the comments on 9/11 youtube videos from people who still think they're watching a real news broadcast, eh?

Jews DO Control The Media

Let’s be honest with ourselves, here, fellow Jews. We do control the media. We’ve got so many dudes up in the executive offices in all the big movie production companies it’s almost obscene. Just about every movie or TV show, whether it be “Tropic Thunder” or “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” is rife with actors, directors, and writers who are Jewish. Did you know that all eight major film studios are run by Jews?

But that’s not all. We also control the ads that go on those TV shows.
...
I’ll give my theory for why Jews don’t want to talk about their control of the media.

First of all, as much as Jews like to admit that so many of them are successful, and that so many of them have accomplished so much, they hate to admit that it has to do with they’re being Jewish. Maybe they’ll admit that it has something to do with the Jewish experience. But how many Jews will admit that there is something inherently a part of every single one of them that helps them to accomplish amazing things?

The ADL chairman, Abe Foxman, was interviewed in a great article about the subject and he said that he “would prefer people say that many executives in the industry ‘happen to be Jewish.’” This just about sums up the party line.
...
Now, the reason groups like the ADL and AIPAC hate admitting this is because, first of all, they are secular organizations. Their whole agenda is to prove that every Jew is the same as every other person in the world. I cannot imagine a more outlandish agenda. No, we’re different. We’re special.

Excellent point! And of course I was one of those people until discovering September Clues and this forum in 2010  (lucky for me!) I had a great conversation about media fakery with a new friend the other day, so one by one we are waking up! Thanks to all of you and your amazing work
