"The program, aimed at the average viewer does a fine job of explaining the background of fractals, first by beginning with the story of Pixar co-founder, Loren Carpenter’s work at Boeing, developing 3D terrain from scratch using fractals. From there the program starts at the beginning with an introduction to Benoit Mandelbrot and his revolutionary work. The explanations are full of solid factual information but never talk above the level of a viewer who has some understanding of basic mathematical principles. Once the concept is presented the program spends the rest of the time showing how prevalent the fractal is in life. For a program about a mathematical concept, “Fractals” is very engaging, showing how the process was applied to special effects as far back as the Genesis planet from “Star Trek II” all the way to the spectacular finale on Mustafar in “Star Wars: Episode III.” I found myself astonished at how fractals were the source of the lava in constant motion and action during the Obi-Wan/Anakin fight. What is more amazing is when the program delves into practical applications such as cell phone antennas, and eventually the human body."

Very nicely put.

Those who say NASA is lying fall into two major and irreconcilable categories: those who think (or pretend to think) NASA is hiding earthly or extraterrestrial technological wonders from us, and those who think NASA is protecting the secret of their woeful inability to get anything to fly higher than a gas balloon.

Does anyone think that it's very likely to be close to both? They can't soar into Bugs Bunny umbrella space, but the minute someone can, their job would be to seem like the "friendly well-meaning scientist friend" that will use the ability responsibly and protect it from "terrorist hands" — so hey, just hand it over to them instead of widely publishing it to the public.

What to make of this?

Veterans Today editor G Duff exposing manipulated imagery in the below article.

They openly admit the site is for "military and intelligence trained specialists"

Why are they exposing fakery created by fellow intel operatives?

Michelle and the Bin Laden Studios

(could not upload video on article)

This one looks like a man with huge shoulders that don’t look quite right even from here. So, let’s take a look:

Now let’s blow this one up using Corel Studio:

^ Oh yes, we all know that trick. Pleading guilt to a lesser charge - or copping a plea guv'. There is a big difference between "news" presentation, ie putting lipstick on a pig, and outright lies and government state/military psyops. This type of "fakery" is something that has been going on since the first newspaper was printed. You're wasting your own time and ours by falling for that garbage. Some might call it conspiracy bait.

And possibly belongs in another thread!

I think the members of this forum are already aware that videos presented by the media can be changed/manipulated on a real-time basis. I'm sure I've read it somewhere on this forum, probably in the fukushima thread. So now, here is the perfect proof for just that with respect to facial expressions:

yt-title: Face2Face: Real-time Face Capture and Reenactment of RGB Videos (CVPR 2016 Oral)
We present a novel approach for real-time facial reenactment of a monocular target video sequence (e.g., Youtube video). The source sequence is also a monocular video stream, captured live with a commodity webcam. Our goal is to animate the facial expressions of the target video by a source actor and re-render the manipulated output video in a photo-realistic fashion. To this end, we first address the under-constrained problem of facial identity recovery from monocular video by non-rigid model-based bundling. At run time, we track facial expressions of both source and target video using a dense photometric consistency measure. Reenactment is then achieved by fast and efficient deformation transfer between source and target. The mouth interior that best matches the re-targeted expression is retrieved from the target sequence and warped to produce an accurate fit. Finally, we convincingly re-render the synthesized target face on top of the corresponding video stream such that it seamlessly blends with the real-world illumination. We demonstrate our method in a live setup, where Youtube videos are reenacted in real time.
