Domino's Pizza on the Moon?

If NASA faked the moon landings, does the agency have any credibility at all? Was the Space Shuttle program also a hoax? Is the International Space Station another one? Do not dismiss these hypotheses offhand. Check out our wider NASA research and make up your own mind about it all.

The Japan arm of fast food chain Domino's announced plans to build a pizza restaurant on the moon.

The lunar branch could cost 1.67 trillion yen ($21 billion), a price which covers construction as well as transportation of materials to the moon's surface.

"We started thinking about this project last year, although we have not yet determined when the restaurant might open," spokesman Tomohide Matsunaga told The Telegraph.

"In the future, we anticipate there will be many people living on the moon, astronauts who are working there and, in the future, citizens of the moon."

To keep costs down, the restaurant said it would make concrete out of the minerals on the moon's surface.

It's a far cry from the freeze-dried space "ice cream" we all ate during field trips to the Science Museum. Initial sketches of the moon Domino's show a two-story dome that could house the restaurant's staff in an underground basement. The illustrations show delivery people on special moon-motorcycles, as well as a green house for growing ingredients and special pizza-fork lifts for bulk deliveries.

The company has already set-up a Web site for the project.

This is not the first pizza-related space stunt. In 2001, rival Pizza Hut delivered a pie to the International Space Station.
