Chris,
I've just listened to the audio as well, and he does not sound credible or adequately literate for a "school teacher" (not that many are these days, unfortunately). I have occasionally heard some uneducated Aussies misuse "distinguish" for 'extinguish', but the pronunciation of Warwick may not be the Australian/British way for that place in New York (where his "brother" supposedly lived) -- anyone know a New Yorker here to clarify? **
There are town names in both Oz & the US that the locals pronounce differently from outsiders, e.g. knowing 'native' residents of Norwich in Connecticut when I lived there, they pronounce it Nor-wich (not Nor-itch as in England), which irritated the crap out of me
My favorite Q for laughs:
MONICA ATTARD: Paul, can I ask you, you formed a friendship, I believe, with Stuart Knox, a fellow school teacher who also lost his twin brother in the attack. Now his brother, Andrew Knox, was in the north tower I believe. Peter, as you say, was in the south tower.
What significance do you attach, if any at all, to two Australian twins dying in the twin towers?
I researched the Gyulavary name some more, and the chances of it being an authentic Hungarian surname still seem slim to none, but they sure go to considerable lengths to make it appear so.
There
is a Paul Gyulavary listed as a teacher at that Catholic college in Cranbourne Vic, as he claimed he was.
Per the
St. Peter's College Newsletter:
"STAFF AS AT 31st JANUARY, 2010
"Mathematics Co-ordinator: Mr Paul Gyulavary B.A.,B.Ed."
Here's a 'fun fact', there's just
one Jane H Gyulavary listed in the online US White Pages -- in
Warwick, NY (age: 63). The supposed sister-in-law; right age too since she was 11 years older than Peter at 44 (love the mnemonics):

Could this be the same persona?

The only other I found was an Yvonne Gyulavary, "school council president of Mount Dandenong Primary School." mentioned in a Vic government Hansard record, of all things. Not sure if it's supposed to be connected to 'Peter/Paul' or not.
** Just found a comment online re New Yorkers' pronunciation of Warwick: "I had a reverse confusion in NY with a cabbie, I asked to be taken to the Warwick Hotel - pronouncing it worik. After some confusion he said Oh you mean the War-wick. It never occurred to me to ask for that!" - Fashionista
