Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
the picture could turn out completely underexposed and not show anything but black Have you tried taking a picture of a bright star to get your exposure settings close? Stars won't show up at all in these light levels. Sirius, the brightest star, has a magnitude of -1 and the "ISS" flyove...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
As it stands, this level of resolution looks like the kind on grainy things I was developing in college photography courses. I don't think I was using zoom lenses like yours. I sincerely hope it will produce enough detail! Do you think there may be more ideal equipment one could borrow or rent for ...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
Let's do a little thought experiment: Imagine yourself spotting a 747 flying overhead your garden one sunny afternoon - at about standard cruising altitude (ca. 10 km), moving from West to East (the plane, as it proceeds Eastwards, is therefore well lit by the sun from behind). As it moves away fro...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
I don't mean to be rude, but to anyone on the Internet saying they are about to produce evidence the ISS does or does not resemble NASA's color-changing CGI creation, rather than a sphere or some other light emitting object as it's been suggested before, I would like to ask that such evidence is ac...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
But the distance when setting over the horizon is 2.300 kms. And it should be still visible! So, can anyone one imagine spotting a 747 from 2.300 kms. away? Ok, let's concede that it could be a highly reflective object and it would be easier to see against the dark firmament, but still looks pretty...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
Given any type of solar panel then attached as to an object, if the body of the object is made of aluminum or something as reflective then would you agree that the metal exterior of the object should be the much brighter component of the object? Yes, and this seems to be the case in most of the ama...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
Nonrappaport, Why do you say that if the object is "bare metal" that it would be brighter than if it were painted? What metal are we talking about here? Certainly if it were bare iron or lead it wouldn't be brighter than an object with a glossy white coat of paint. I mean, ie, the shiny, ...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
the length of both is similar: 73 m. for the ISS, 76 m. for the 747-8 Its worth mentioning that the longest dimension of the "ISS" is it's width: 108.5 meters. if you have a look at a 747 flying at cruise altitude (about 12 km) you'll barely see any details, it's just a speck in the sky. ...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
How do satellites produce f ? They fire their engines once a month? It fires much more often than that as proven by the "ISS Average Altitude" charts which show it constantly changes on a daily basis. Here is a close-up for the time-period February-March 2017 taken from the "Height o...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
Where does the constant force f come from that make objects like the "ISS" travel tangentially with sufficient velocity that it remains in orbit? I'm pleasantly surprised - this is a very nice well-thought-out post by you, brianv! If we had kudos, I'd give you one :) To answer your questi...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
This whole argument falls to pieces if we consider that the light point seen in one location may not be the same light point seen in another location. There could be several flying objects at a lower altitude and at a lower speed simulating a unique flying object at, say, 400 km high. It seems comp...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
Nonrappaport, I think your calculations are correct, but this argument is probably the weaker one over claiming that they are merely slicing scenes together using the more conventional aircraft speeds and 40 second free-fall times. I selected that particular sequence precisely because there are no ...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
The TRUTH About "Vomit Comets" Simulating the effects of zero-g is most realistically accomplished by filming the participants inside of a “reduced gravity aircraft” - colloquially known as a “vomit comet” - which, as we've all heard ad nauseum, can only produce approximately 25 second pe...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
One of the central concepts of this paradigm is called implosion . ... this phenomenon is related to why trees can get their sap to rise far higher than what would be possible through pressure and osmosis alone, and it is even related to how our blood flows through our veins since the heart is not ...

Re: Fakery in Orbit: THE I$$
Ionosphere or no ionosphere, aircraft flying parallel to the earth require both lift and rear thrust, not just vertical boosts to stay aloft. Engines (at least the ones I know) need fuel and oxygen, not ions. Refueling at 27,580 km/h sounds highly counterintuitive to me. Or do solar panels generate...
